Cell Phone Policy
Student possession of cellular phones or electronic devices on school grounds is a privilege for emergency communication with parents and/or law enforcement and/or for the purpose of teacher-directed and approved research and instructional practice. Per Florida Statute 1006.07(2)(f): “a student may not use a wireless communications device during instructional time, except when expressly directed by a teacher solely for educational purposes. A teacher shall designate an area for wireless communications devices during instructional time.” To preserve the proper educational environment and prevent disturbances, the following conditions must be observed:
- Electronic devices include but are not limited to the following: cell phones; computers; smart watches; portable game units; digital media players, other mechanisms that enable users to communicate electronically person-to-person or through internet social networking sites (e.g., Facebook, SnapChat, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter).
- Electronic devices are to be powered off, concealed in backpacks, and NOT to be used during instructional time, bell to bell, for personal use. Use during any other part of the school day is at the discretion of the Principal.
- Electronic devices are to be powered off and silenced on District buses except as authorized by the driver.
- The student may be disciplined for inappropriate content stored on electronic devices brought to school, school functions, and/or on the bus.
- The following will result in student discipline at school: refusal to turn off an electronic device when told by a teacher, administrator, coach, counselor, or other school official; damaging an electronic device owned by the school; causing a disruption; using an electronic device to cheat, including getting and giving answers to tests and copying from the internet; using the electronic device to bully, threaten, harass, attack another student or school personnel whether or not communicated directly to that person; sending (or asking to receive) pictures or videos of people who are partially or completely undressed, or are pretending to or actually performing a sexual act.
Electronic Penalty
- Teacher Warning- send student down to student services

- Parent Conference and Saturday School- send student down to student services
In the event of an emergency where a student needs to contact their parent, the student is to report to student services and use the telephone. Student services staff will assist the student with this process.
Tardy Policy
- Offenses 1-4: Each Time Late- Learning Opportunities and Phone Calls Home
- Offenses 5-8: Lunch Detention in the ISS room (each time) and Parent Conference
- Offense 9: Before School Detention from 8:00am-8:50am in ISS room
- Offense 10: Lunch Detention in the ISS room
- Offense 11: Before School Detention from 8:00am- 8:50am in ISS room
- Offense 12: Lunch Detention in the ISS room
- Offense 13: Lunch Detention in the ISS room
- Offense 14: Before School Detention from 8:00am- 8:50am in ISS room
- Offense 15: Lunch Detention in the ISS room
- Offense 16: Lunch Detention in the ISS room
- Offense 17: Before School Detention from 8:00am- 8:50am in ISS room
- Offense 18: Lunch Detention in the ISS room
- Offense 19: Lunch Detention in the ISS room
- Offense 20: Before School Detention from 8:00am- 8:50am in ISS room
Failure to attend Before School Detention will result in a full day of ISS
NOTE: This is a per-semester and student tardy record starts over in January
Badge Policy
- Student ID badges are to be worn every day, all day. Badges are always to be worn around the neck and visible.
- Please do not alter your badge or lanyard in any way. Do not switch lanyards; they are color coded by grade.
- Replacement badges and lanyards can be purchased between 8:40-10:07 in ISS. The cost to replace a badge or a lanyard is $3. The cost to replace both is $5.
- Temporary badges may be obtained between 8:40-10:07 am. Temporary badges are color coded and good for the same purchase day.
- Daily Student ID sticker obtained after 10:07 am will result in one lunch detention. Failure to serve lunch detention will result in additional lunch detentions or consequences as assigned by Miss Simmons.
- Emails will be sent to parents about missing IDs and money owed.
- Any money owed will be added to student’s Destiny account at the end of each semester. Balances owed will impact student participation in schoolwide events.
- Students will not be called out of class to pick up badges if they are dropped off in the front office after 9:00. Consequences will have been issued.
- Policy will reset per semester.
Discipline
- Offense 1-4: Warnings (no replacement cost)
- Offense 5-14: $1 sticker per replacement
- Offense 15+: Replacement badge and lanyard given at 15, lunch detention assigned each time, meet with guidance counselor
